It takes a streak of madness
to start distilling your own white spirit from scratch.
But we had an itch, a still and an excess of grapes on our hands.
Right now less than 1% of gin distilleries around the world are crazy enough to distill base spirits from scratch. Why? It’s complicated, literally.
Distilling local wine takes extra time and effort, but the result is a flavoursome grape-to-glass spirit that’s full of soul.
We’re able to produce some of Australia’s best spirits using excess local grapes from our neighbours Clovely Estate, clear air and rich soil.
Armed with our trusted eight-plate column still and a steady supply of local wine, we’ve spent many long afternoons dreaming, drafting and sipping until the botanical balance was just right.
We use house-made base grape spirit to craft our small-batch artisanal range of gins, vodka, and soon-to-be brandy and chacha right here in South Burnett.

Meet our maker Nick Pesudovs. He can’t turn water into wine, but he can turn wine into vodka.
One dark winter’s night the award-winning winemaker had an idea – what if he turned an excess supply of wine into specialty spirits? Mixing his expert palate with an insatiable curiosity, the South Burnett local put his heart into crafting a top-quality grape-to-glass spirit. This is how South Burnett Distillers was born.
From our heritage-listed facility in the South Burnett, head distiller, Nick nurtured the botanical profiles until our range of small-batch spirits was born.
