Our Winemakers

Our Winemakers

Brisbane born and bred, our winemakers Luke Fitzpatrick and Kieran Carney lead our winemaking team. Like many a winemaker, they speak their own secret language, pull pranks on each other and have a keen eye for gastronomic pursuits! More seriously, they are also active as judges on the Australian wine show circuit.

Luke Fitzpatrick

Chief Winemaker & CEO

Graduating from Charles Sturt University, Luke worked at Mount Avoca, Evans & Tate, Sirromet and New Zealand’s Villa Maria before returning home to Queensland and joining us at Clovely.

As Chief winemaker and CEO, Luke splits his time between our Murgon winery and head office in Brisbane. He’s often found attending various food and wine events with the marketing team and every now and again, delivering wine to our customers himself. He’s also known for his love of salt & vinegar potato chips and competitive streak, competing at the Noosa and Mooloolaba Triathlon each year for the triClovely team.

Kieran Carney

Winemaker

Also a graduate from CSU, Kieran worked at one of the country’s largest wineries before moving to the South Burnett and joining the Clovely team.

Based at our Murgon winery, Kieran manages the winemaking for Clovely (kindly sending the Red Hill office ‘samples' of his latest blend trials) in addition to contract winemaking for a number of brands in the region. He also competes in the Noosa and Mooloolaba Triathlons, is a keen cyclist and has managed to cook his way through all of Manu Fidel’s recipe books.
