The South Burnett RegionThe South Burnett region is located three hours north-west of Brisbane, Queensland or one and a half hours west of the Sunshine Coast. It is increasingly recognised as one of Australia’s most exciting new wine regions. Comprising of five local councils - Kingaroy, Murgon, Wondai, Kilkivan and Nanango, the first fruit plantings occurred in 1995 after establishing the region's suitability for growing grapes and similar climate to the acclaimed Hunter Valley The South Burnett Region has quickly expanded to become one of Queensland’s leading wine regions, featuring some of the largest vineyards in Queensland through to smaller boutique cellar doors. With over thirteen cellar doors in the region, there is a wide variety of wine trail properties for tourists and enthusiasts to visit.
